ITINERARY AS FOLLOWSDay 1 - Arrive at London’s Heathrow airport and transfer to your hotel in London. This evening you will enjoy a Medieval Banquet. Day 2 - This morning embark on a half -day orientation tour of London, including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and other famous buildings. In the afternoon visit the Tower of London, where our haunted tour begins. The tower served as the prison and execution place in England. The ghosts often seen here are those of Ann Boleyn, wife of Henry VIII. In the evening join the famous “Ghost Walk” to some of the city’s darkest streets and places. Not recommended for the timid! Overnight in London. Day 3 - This morning is at leisure to explore the city on your own before afternoon drive to Hampton Court. The palace was home to many kings and their wives and mistresses, said to be haunted by their past residents. Enjoy a spooky tour by lantern light. Overnight in London. Day 4 - Leave London for Windsor Castle, the largest Royal castle in use anywhere. Windsor will be appropriately haunted, and you might spot a ghost or two while touring the grounds. Continue to Stratford - upon - Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare will surely delight you. Day 5 - Our first stop this morning is Warwick Castle. It is believed that past occupants of the castle still walk the many corridors and staterooms as ghosts. Day 5 - (cont) Next stop is Derby, reputed to have had more prisons than any other town in Medieval England and today claimed to be the “Ghost Capital of England.” Continue to York and spend the night. Day 6 - Today drive north to Durham. This town has a variety of its own ghosts and the castle itself is haunted by a ghost known as “Grey Lady”, wife of the former bishop of the city. Next drive through the Northumbrian countryside, the northern outpost of what was the Roman Empire. Overnight in the Newcastle vicinity. Day 7 - In the morning drive to Muncaster Castle in Cumbria. This castle is haunted by numerous resident ghosts and the World Owl Trust. Or do some exploring on your own in Chester, which has a few haunted coaching inns, among them are Ye Old King’s Head and George The Dragon. Overnight in Chester. Day 8 - Drive to Salisbury, home to one of England's most famous cathedrals. A local pub, “The Haunch of Venison” has a mummified hand, which was recovered in past renovations and is displayed in the lobby. It is said to be the hand of a patron who played cards here and cheated. Overnight in the Salisbury vicinity. Day 9 - In the morning we return to London. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight enjoy a farewell dinner. Overnight in London. Day 10 - Morning transfer to Heathrow airport for departure to the US. |
