We got to sleep in this morning. The bus did not leave until 10:00. We went to the
Palace of Versailles (Home of French Kings Louis XIV, XV and XVI) for a guided
tour of the Gardens and Palace. We had lunch at a sidewalk cafe nearby.
We left the Paris area and headed southwest to see the Notre Dame de
Chartres. According to the European travel book we had, this is the best example of a Gothic Cathedral. It has
buttresses holding up its flying buttresses and 21,000 sq. ft. of stained glass. |
