Castles of the World

It rained off and on all day. We made a pee stop in the morning in another small town on the Loire River. It had a big castle on the hill, but we didn't visit it.  We did visit the 13th century castle at Angers. It had all its towers removed after losing a battle in 100 Years War. There was a special building built to preserve and display the biggest tapestry in world, which was completed about 1382. Called "The Apocalypse", it illustrates the book of Revelations. It consists of 70 panels and is over 300' long. This fortress castle had a very deep m with a lot of flower gardens in the bottom. After lunch, we drove to the Abbey of Mont St. Michel, perched on a rocky isle in the Gulf of Malo the English Channel. There is a little village around the base of the rock with very narrow walkway and lots of stairways. We got there too late to go inside the Abbey, so we walked up and down a around the town and did some shopping. We spent the night at a hotel about 2 mi. from the Abbey and had leg of lamb for dinner.
