| We started the day back in Heidelberg for some shopping and
picture taking down along the Neckar River. I bought a beer stein with Heidelberg Castle on it and
Deara did some Christmas shopping. After a short walking tour along the river, we went to
Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a 16th century walled city which means Red Castle on the Tauber River.
Lucy, our tour director, felt guilty about our getting to Mont St. Michel too late to be able to visit
the Abbey. So, she treated everybody to a sit down lunch at a nice restaurant
in Rothenberg. After lunch , we got to shop and walk around the little city for an hour.
This is where we bought a "Germania" Beanie Baby Bear (sold exclusively
in Germany) and a lot of other neat stuff. The tour director's son, Jaime, got lost here
and had to buy a map of the town just to find his way back to the bus.
We took the scenic "Romantic Road" south to another medieval walled city,
Nordlingen. We finished the day about an hour north of Munich, Germany. |
